Humans are silly little things. I can't believe some dragons allow themselves to be riden by them, let them lead them around and put things on them. Where I'm from, humans are curious little beings who knew to be careful with nature or it would bite them back. Humans in this world are horrifying, and I don't like them very much. Those who respect me get my respect, and those who don't should keep their distance.
More about Cindercrests:
The Cindercrests are classified through morphological comparison with classical draconic archetypes:
European dragon β primary body plan (four legs, two wings, balanced proportions)
Drake β muscular structure and grounded terrestrial movement
Amphiptere β wing articulation and aerodynamic control
Tianlong β intelligence and environmental responsiveness
These are structural analogs used for classification, not evolutionary ancestry.
Order: Draconiformes
Family: Ignivaridae
Common Name: Cindercrest Dragon
Range: North America β forests, mountains, canyons, and freshwater systems
Possibly endangered, rarely seen
Four legs, two wings
Compact, powerful, non-serpentine build
Thick tail with slight aquatic fin adaptation
Backward-curving horns (variable by individual)
Snout varies from rounded to sharply pointed
Pointed variants feature a three-point lip structure (left, center, right)
Prominent exposed fangs in all individuals
Scales resemble those of a pangolin and can move to reveal controlled bioluminescent signals in the skin between the scales. They are quite strong and tough when tense, but can become soft and flexible when relaxed. It is unknown how this is possible.

Flight: Broad, high-maneuver wings for forests, cliffs, and canyon thermals.
Swimming: Cannot breathe underwater, but can hold breath for ~15β20 minutes; uses webbed claws and tail propulsion for silent movement.
Climbing: Curved high-grip claws and friction-adapted limb scales allow vertical traversal of cliffs and trees.
Pressurized corrosive secretion that ignites upon exposure to flame.
Internal combustion-based flame emission with variable intensity.
Ignited acid mist produces a rapid, expanding fireburst (short duration, high impact).
Cindercrest Dragons regulate scale-based light emission by tightening or relaxing overlapping scales. This system expresses emotion, intent, and directional guidance, not language.
Head/face glow: Threat, dominance, warning
Wing membrane glow: Friendly intent, openness
Leg glow: Submission or non-aggression
A wave-like glow sequence traveling from eyes to snout tip.
Slow wave: Food / non-urgent interest
Fast wave: Danger / immediate threat
Steady glow: Directional instruction (βgo there / look hereβ)
Smokestone β charcoal with ember fissures
Copperpine β green with bronze undertones
Redwood Moss β forest green with gold edging
Autumnflare β russet-gold camouflage
Midnight Cinder β near-black with ember speckling

Stormglass β slate-blue with silver heat lines
Stormridge Onyx β black with electric-blue fractures
Glacier Smoke β pale blue-grey with frost tones

Canyon Copper β river-adapted copper morph with rose tinting
Silverstone β pale silver with faint iridescence, grey-white in darkness

Cannot breathe underwater
Strong diving endurance with silent submerged movement
Silverstone specializes in camouflage against stone and water
Subtle iridescent silver scales
Grey-white in low light
Opaque wings (non-translucent)
Slight reflective properties
Apex multi-biome predator and environmental regulator. Maintains ecosystem balance through territorial control and selective predation.
Presence indicators include scorched terrain, fused sand, abrupt silence in wildlife, and disrupted migration patterns.
The Cindercrest Dragon is a highly intelligent, multi-environment apex species capable of operating across air, land, and water.
It does not rely on vocalization.
Instead, it communicates through structured bioluminescent signaling, body positioning, and timed light sequences.
It is rarely fully seen.
And when it is able to be observed clearly, it is intentional, as it has more likely than not already planned what to do if you run.
