"High school prom can be considered a typical rite of passage.  It is a day that students should be able to look forward to and not dread.  However, these days exorbitant expenses put a damper on the whole prom experience.  Thank goodness for Once Upon a Prom, a wonderful community outreach tht affords local area high school students a prom shopping day that every student deserves.  I have had the blessing of volunteering for OUP.  Students are free to try on their choice of beautiful dresses without the anxiety of worrying about price.  I have witnessed ear to ear smiles when they find "the perfect one" as well as genuine giddiness when shopping for matching accessories.  One of my favorite memories is the photo wall.  A beautifully decorated photo backdrop to capture the memory of finding "the perfect dress".  The students love it!  Kudos to the group of young women whose vision has become OUP.  A lot of hard work and dedication is devoted to the event throughout the year.  The day is organized like clockwork, from makeup and accessory tables to raffle tables with community sponsored give aways.  Wonderful memories are made on shopping day!  It is a blessing to witness students thoroughly enjoy a wonderful prom shopping experience.  With continued community support, Once Upon a Prom's future is bright!" -- Charla Fout, annual OUP volunteer
