The Onalaska Choir Program depends on our volunteers to help support our directors and students.
We ask that every family volunteer as they are able. There are numerous opportunities throughout the school year to volunteer. Below you will find a list of some of those ways:
Concerts/Performances: Throughout the year we have several Choir concerts and Show Choir performances at OHS. At many of these events we ask for volunteers.
Door Monitors (4) - Welcome families and friends before the concert/performance, monitor doors during the performance to minimize people entering and leaving while students are performing.
Ticket Sales (4-6) - sell tickets prior to the performance and for a short time at the beginning of the performance. We use cash and a Point of Sale (POS) system to take card payments.
Baked Goods (15-20) - we offer baked goods, provided by families, at peformances that have intermission. We ask families to provide 1 dozen baked goods, labeled with ingredients and any allergens. They can be packaged individually or in small groups. They do not need to be priced. Our bake sales are FREE WILL DONATIONS.
Bake Sale Monitor (2-4) - monitor the bake sale, arrange baked goods so they are easy to see and access, ensure that money is being placed in the container when someone purchases a product. Bake sale monitors can change throughout the night so that you are able to see your student perform.
50/50 Ticket Sellers (2-4) - Occassionally we will do a 50/50 raffle at a performance. We will provide you with tickets, cash, and an apron. We will ask you to walk the line before a performance and/or the aisles between performances selling 50/50 raffle tickets to the audience.
Volunteering for Organizations: The PSG works with several organizations that provide financial support in exchange for volunteers.
Riverfest - Typically we are asked to bartend
Country Boom - There are several types of jobs, many must be done by an adult (25+). Clean-up on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday is encouraged to be done by students. We are typically asked to provide 40 to 50 volunteers for this event. They provide food and drinks for their volunteers.
Ashely for the Arts (INDIVIDUAL TRIP) - Anyone who volunteers for Ashely for the Arts will have the money earned go directly to their child's trip fund. You decide which job you would like to do, there are many to pick from.
Oktoberfest - The choir helps with parade line up at the Torchlight & Maple Leaf parades. We also bartend on Saturday night. Along with the rate we are paid for volunteering, they do allow us to put out tip buckets when bartending.
Bingo Nights - We have a couple Bingo opporutnities. One is with Beer By Bike Brigade and the other is with the Legion. BBBBingo is only one night and requires 6-8 volunteers. Legion Bingo is every Tuesday for a month and requires 3-4 volunteers per night.
