Omni ("we," "our," or "us") provides a local-first archiving and cataloging application. This Privacy Policy discloses our data practices. We do not operate any application servers, and we do not collect, store, or monitor your personal library data.
1. Information Collection and Use
A. Personal Information (Optional Cloud Sync) If you voluntarily enable the cloud backup feature, the application uses Google Sign-In to authenticate with your personal Google Drive account. During this process, the application accesses your Google Email Address and User ID solely to authorize the connection. We do not transmit, store, or view this email address on any external servers of our own; it remains strictly between your device and Google's secure authentication servers.
B. Photos, Videos, and Files
Camera Images: The App requires camera access to capture book cover art. These images are processed ephemerally and locally on your device's memory to generate mathematical AI embeddings. No raw photos, video feeds, or image files are ever collected, saved to our servers, or shared with third parties.
Local Database: All library data (book records, notes, and custom covers) is stored locally in your app's isolated private database on your device (context.filesDir).
Files and Documents (Google Drive Backup): If you enable the optional backup feature, the App writes your encrypted database file directly to a hidden App Data folder in your personal Google Drive (drive.appdata scope). We do not have access to your Google Drive credentials or any other files on your drive.
2. Third-Party Services & AI Compliance
Omni acts as a client interacting directly with authorized third parties. In compliance with Google Play's 2026 User Data rules regarding AI integrations, we disclose the following:
Local Image Processing (Google ML Kit): Cover recognition models process visual inputs entirely on-device. No data is transmitted externally.
Gemini AI (Optional user key): If you optionally choose to input your personal Google Gemini API Key to enhance bibliographic notes, the query data is sent directly and securely from your device to Google APIs. We do not intercept, monitor, or collect your API keys or queries.
Internet Speculative Fiction Database (ISFDB): The App queries public cover image assets via secure HTTPS links. No user identifiers, device tracking data, or personal information is transmitted during these requests.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
No Sale of Data: We do not sell, trade, or rent user data to third parties.
No Third-Party Tracking: The application does not contain advertising SDKs, analytics tracking (e.g., Firebase, Adjust), or third-party telemetry.
Direct-to-Service: Data transmissions occur exclusively between the user’s device and the authorized service providers (Google/ISFDB).
4. Data Security
Encryption in Transit: All communications with external APIs are conducted via secure HTTPS (TLS) protocols.
Secure Local Storage: Sensitive data, including user-provided API keys and authentication tokens, are stored using Android’s EncryptedSharedPreferences, which utilizes the Android Keystore system for hardware-backed encryption.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
User Control: You have total control over your data. All library information is stored locally and can be deleted by clearing the application cache or uninstalling the application.
Cloud Data: Backups stored in Google Drive must be managed or deleted by you through your Google account.
Account Deletion: Because we do not store your data on our own servers, we cannot "delete" your account for you. Deletion is managed entirely by the user on their device and cloud storage.
6. Children’s Privacy
Omni does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. All processing is local to the device.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top will reflect the most recent version.
