Dr. Omkar Kamalakant Kulkarni is an accomplished academician and researcher in the field of Mechanical Engineering, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune. With over a decade of teaching and research experience, Dr. Kulkarni has made significant contributions in areas such as optimization techniques, microforming, additive manufacturing, and mechanical design.
He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2023) from MIT-WPU, focusing his doctoral research on Investigations on Micro-Forming of Bio-Materials. His research interests include the application of advanced metaheuristic optimization algorithms—such as Cohort Intelligence, Grey Wolf Optimizer, and Grasshopper Algorithm—for improving manufacturing and forming processes.
Dr. Kulkarni has 24 journal publications, 9 book chapters, and has presented papers at several national and international conferences. His scholarly work appears in reputed journals including Advances in Materials and Processing Technologies, Russian Journal of Biomechanics, Materials Today: Proceedings, and Engineering Review.
He is also a prolific innovator with 7 patents to his credit—4 granted (including one from Germany and two from Australia)—spanning innovations in microforming, deep drawing, levitating devices, and electric vehicles.
In scholarly impact, he has accumulated 900+ citations on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 10 and i10-index of 11, along with 550+ citations in Scopus .
