Title. Ophthalmic Medical Image Analysis (OMIA) Workshop over the past ten years: retrospect and prospect


Short bio. Prof Trucco is the NRP Chair of Computational Vision, University of Dundee; Honorary Clinical Researcher, NHS Tayside; served as Adjunct Professor, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NIMTE), Ningbo. Researcher since 1984 in computer vision and medical image analysis. 210 refereed papers, 2 textbooks. Created and leads, with Dr. Tom MacGillivray, University of Edinburgh, the international research initiative VAMPIRE (Vessel Assessment and Measurement Platform for Images of the REtina), whose software has been used in many international retinal biomarker studies incl. cardiovascular risk, dementia, genetics. AI advisor to the working group of the British Association of Dermatologists on AI.

Prof.  Hao Chen

Title. Deep Learning for Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging and Analysis


Short bio.  Dr. Hao Chen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He leads the Smart Lab focusing on developing trustworthy AI for healthcare. He received the Ph.D. degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2017. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in CUHK previously. He has 100+ publications (Google Scholar Citations 20K+, h-index 60) in MICCAI, IEEE-TMI, MIA, CVPR, AAAI, Radiology, Lancet Digital Health, Nature Machine Intelligence, JAMA, etc. He also has rich industrial research experience (e.g., Siemens), and holds a dozen of patents in AI and medical image analysis. He received several premium awards such as Asian Young Scientist Fellowship in 2023, MICCAI Young Scientist Impact Award in 2019, Forbes China 30 under 30 and several best paper awards. He serves as the Associate Editor of multiple journals including IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Neurocomputing, Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics, Medical Physics, etc. He serves as the program committee of multiple international conferences including Area Chair of MICCAI 2021-2023, ISBI 2022, MIDL 2022-2023, CVPR 2024 and SPC of AAAI 2022, etc. He also led the team winning 15+ medical grand challenges. He was reported as one of the six researchers who are shaping the future of artificial intelligence by Nature Index.
