Community service is a fundamental part of The Omega Mentoring Program - Atlanta. We embark on several different types of community service such as volunteering at the local food pantry. These experiences teach character and serve as a learning experience for everyone exposed to it.
Read impressions of last summer's community service activities:
" During my time doing community service I realized that you can never judge a person by the the way they look. Some of the people that came into the Food Pantry were dressed nicely, which is not what most people would expect. However, they needed help just as much as the people who looked worst. I realized that what you looks like has nothing to do with what you are going though. People who previously had high status jobs can also fall on hard times. Through this activity, I learned that not everyone who looks good, is good. "
" This opportunity will not only help me now it will also help later when working towards applying for things. It’s not just about the rewards, but the opportunity itself was a great way for me to experience helping in the community. This service also is helping make some people’s lives easier. When I look back on this it will also be a great memory that I shared with my sisters. "
