Omar Licandro

Biography

Omar Licandro is a Professor at the University of Leicester Business School (ULBS) since July 2023. Previously, he has held professorial appointments at the University of Nottingham, the Instituto de Análisis Económico (CSIC) in Barcelona, the European University Institute in Florence, the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and the Fundación de Estudios de Economía Aplicada (FEDEA) in Madrid. He was Secretary General of the International Economic Association (IEA) from 2013 to 2021, and he is currently the IEA Treasurer. He has been the Executive Secretary of the Research Institute for Development, Growth and Economics (RIDGE) since its foundation in 2014. He is an Associate Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE), and a Fellow at CESIfo. He has been Associate Editor of Annales d’Economie et de Statistique, Investigaciones Económicas and the Spanish Economic Review, and a Research Fellow at the CEPR.
