Biography
Omar Licandro is Professor of Economics at the University of Leicester. His research focuses on economic growth, innovation, international trade, welfare measurement and structural transformation. His work has appeared, among many others, in the Economic Journal, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of International Economics and Journal of Economic Growth.
Before joining Leicester, he held academic and research positions at the University of Nottingham, Institute for Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC), the European University Institute (EUI), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, FEDEA and the Barcelona School of Economics, where he remains an Associate Professor and previously served as Research Director.
He is Treasurer and former Secretary General of the International Economic Association and Executive Secretary of RIDGE. Through these roles, he promotes international research cooperation among universities, national and multilateral institutions.
