THE LOUISIANA LONGBALLERS - 1998-2009
The franchise began in 1998 as the Louisiana Longballers for Rayne, Louisiana. The Longballers compiled a 104.134.13 regular season record with a 3-3 postseason record. They captured three Connie Mack/West Division pennants in 1999, 2006 and 2007, highlighted by the franchise's greatest achievement - winnting the WFBL Championship in 2007
BASEBALL RETURNS TO OMAHA - 2009-2010
Omaha previously had a presence in the WFBL as the original Omaha Mavericks from 2002 through 2004. Theat franchise changed ownership and relocated to Spokane, Washington.
On September 25, 2009, new ownership brought professional fantasy baseball back to Omaha, acquiring the Louisiana Longballers and relocating the franchise to Omaha, Nebraska. The team revived the Omaha Mavericks identity to begin a new era.
THE OMAHA ROYALS ERA - 2011-2022
With the WFBL's expansion to 18 teams, Omaha moved to the newly created Harry Kalas Centry Division for the 2011 season and adopted a new identity - the Omaha Royals.
As part of the 2012 realignment, Omaha and the Joplin Twisters (formerly Jackson Hole Blowfish) swapped divisions. The Royals returned to the Connie Mack West Division, while Joplin moved to the Central Division.
The Royals identity would represent the franchise for more than a decade.
THE OMAHA STORM CHASERS - 2023 - PRESENT
Following the 2022 season, the franchise announced a new chapter: a move to Werner Park in Papillion, Nebraska, and a complete rebrand as the Omaha Storm Chasers.
The new identity established a bold future while honoring the history and accomplishments of the Louisiana Longballers, Omaha Mavericks and Omaha Royals eras. The Storm Chasers continue to compete in the Connie Mack West Division.
