A timebank is a system in which people exchange services, measured in hours, rather than money. Every member's time is valued equally, meaning one hour of service, regardless of the task or skill, is worth one time credit, promoting a sense of equality and community exchange.
Timebanking is a system wherein individuals offer their time and skills to others, and in return, they receive "time credits" that they can use to access services offered by other members. The unit of value in a timebank is an hour of time, and each hour of help given earns one hour of credit.
Timebanking fosters community by connecting people, valuing everyone's contributions, and addressing unmet needs. Moreover, timebanks enable this community building without the exchange of money.
