I am currently a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Advanced Studies in Toulouse (IAST), Toulouse School of Economics (TSE). Prior, I received my PhD in Evolutionary Anthropology from University College London.
Previously my research has focussed on cross-cultural variation in the status of women, examining the effect of kinship intensity and cousin marriage on the risk of violence for women.
The goal of my current research is to explain what drives kinship intensity cross-culturally. In other words, why are some societies structured by partiuclarly dense overlapping networks of kin, while others are not? Relatedly, what causes us to break down these kinship bonds in favour of relationships with unrelated individuals?
