OLWeather ("OLWeather", "we", "our", or "the app") provides weather forecasts, weather alerts, planning scores, activity guidance, regional context, and optional place and tourism suggestions. This Privacy Policy explains how the current Android app accesses, uses, stores, and shares information.

Information OLWeather accesses and uses
Location information
If you grant location permission, OLWeather may access precise or approximate device coordinates to identify your current area and request location-specific weather information. You can instead choose a location manually. Saved locations and the currently selected location are stored on your device.
Coordinates or place queries may be transmitted over an encrypted connection to weather, alert, geocoding, environmental, and geographic-data providers to deliver app features. These providers may include MET Norway, NOAA / the United States National Weather Service where applicable, Open-Meteo, OpenStreetMap Nominatim, GeoNames, and ISRIC SoilGrids for relevant Farm features.
Weather, forecast, alert, and environmental information
OLWeather processes current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts, official alert information where available, and related environmental inputs to generate weather displays and planning guidance. Forecasts and alerts may be cached on the device so the latest available information can remain visible when a fresh connection is unavailable.
App settings and local activity
Theme, units, motion preferences, notification preferences, saved locations, cached forecasts, local reminders, widget information, and purchase status may be stored locally on the device. OLWeather does not require an OLWeather account and does not operate an OLWeather cloud-sync account system.
Advertising
The free version may display advertising supplied by Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may process information such as device or advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, app interactions, ad interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, measurement, fraud prevention, security, and compliance. Google's handling of this information is governed by Google's policies and the advertising choices available through Google and the device.
Purchases
OLWeather Premium is processed by Google Play Billing. Google Play handles payment information and purchase processing. OLWeather receives purchase and entitlement information needed to provide or restore Premium access; OLWeather does not receive full payment-card details.
Notifications and background operation
If you enable alerts, OLWeather may use notification, exact-alarm, restart, and battery/background permissions where Android requires them. Alert preferences and schedules are stored on the device. OLWeather does not operate a remote push-notification account service.
Places, activities, and nearby attractions
OLWeather may display place names, categories, activities, approximate regional context, and independently written summaries for informational planning. Records can be marked verified or unverified. Unverified information must be confirmed locally. Opening status, hours, prices, accessibility, transport, safety conditions, and availability may change. OLWeather is not affiliated with or endorsed by listed venues unless expressly stated.
How information is shared
OLWeather transmits only information reasonably needed to provide a requested feature to the applicable service provider. Examples include coordinates for local weather, place text for location search, and device or advertising information processed by Google AdMob. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a lawful transfer of the app, subject to applicable law.
Service providers
The app may use the following third-party services:
- MET Norway for weather forecasts and, where available, alerts
- NOAA / National Weather Service for supported United States weather or alert information
- GeoNames for geographic and place identity information
- ISRIC SoilGrids for relevant soil context
- Google AdMob for advertising
- Google Play Billing for Premium purchases and restoration

These providers process information under their own privacy policies, terms, and retention practices.
Data storage and retention
OLWeather stores settings, saved locations, cached weather, alerts, and related app state locally for as long as needed to provide the feature or until you remove the data. You can remove saved locations and change preferences in the app. You can clear OLWeather's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app to remove local app data, subject to Android backup or restore behavior.
OLWeather does not control the retention practices of third-party providers. Information transmitted to those providers is governed by their respective policies.
Security
OLWeather uses encrypted HTTPS connections for supported network requests. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Permissions and choices
You may deny or revoke location and notification permissions in Android settings. You may choose a manual location instead of device location. You may disable alerts or clear local app data. Some app features will not work when the related permission or information is unavailable.
Children's privacy
OLWeather is a general weather and planning app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly operate an account system that collects personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at olweather.app@gmail.com.
International use
Third-party service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you use OLWeather. Their privacy policies describe their processing and transfer safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when app features, legal requirements, or service providers change. The "Last updated" date identifies the latest version. Material changes will be reflected in the app or on this page as appropriate.
