After I read this, my mom, who has never read a mythological book in her life, loved it! Miller's writing is incredible and makes it a great read. As someone who knew mythology before reading it, I loved the different perspective on the formidable sorceress, Circe. I really enjoyed the connections made to The Odyssey; Jason and Medea; and the Minotaur.
Now, there have been very few graphic novels I've enjoyed, but this is such an important one. It is a memoir showing the author's childhood in 1979 Iran, during the Revolution. Satrapi showcases the rights–or lack of–that Iranian women had during the Islamic Regime. Such a fascinating read!
This is such a special, unique series! A fresh spin on Greek myths, I could not put this down. Daphne, a young Spartan woman, ends up going on a quest with Apollo, who is being punished with mortality. They travel around Ancient Greece fighting monsters such as the Sphinx and the Minotaur. There is some romance sprinkled in. Highly recommend!
