About
I am a fourth-year PhD candidate at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin. While studying at LBJ, I focused on learning how policy impacts the human-environment interaction. I worked as both a graduate researcher and a teaching assistant. As a graduate researcher, I contributed to the Planet Texas 2050 Initiative and the Austin Area Sustainability Indicators project. I was a TA for one semester for Dr. Bixler's Program Evaluation for Social Impact.
My research agenda is situated at the intersection of environmental sustainability and education. My dissertation criticizes K-12 climate change education in Texas, including formal and informal modalities. I use surveys to capture student perspectives, map informal education networks, and learn how athletic administrators plan for a hotter Texas.
In addition to completing my dissertation, I work full-time with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as a research analyst.
I hold a B.S. in Geology from Sul Ross State University and a PSM in Environmental Sustainability and Natural Resource Management from Texas Tech University. I am passionate about promoting sustainability education and empowering individuals to make decisions toward a greener, more resilient future.
When I'm not working or studying, you might find me training for my next powerlifting meet or enjoying time with my family. I love spending time outside when the Houston weather isn't unbearably hot.
