I am a linguist at Humboldt-University of Berlin, working in the fields of language variation, language contact, and multilingualism. My research focuses on grammatical variation in German varieties in and outside Germany, and language ideologies. I'm particularly interested in the question whether language ideology influences linguistic structure, and whether multilingual speakers experience communicative contexts differently than monolinguals. In my studies, I take an empirical approach, making use of various methods from different subfields, including sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and corpus linguistics.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at Humboldt-University of Berlin, chair "German in Multilingual Contexts" (Heike Wiese) and PI at the CRC 1412 "Register" Project C07: "The impact of language ideologies on register distinctions in multilingual contexts" (together with Antje Sauermann and Heike Wiese). I am coordinating the Centre "Language in Urban Diversity".
