I have done an extensive amount of traveling which has helped me garner a better appreciation of the natural world as well as understand the different issues other cultures face. Directly out of high school I lived out of my car for two months with a friend. Driving from Maine all the way out to Washington, down the coast of California, across the southern deserts into Texas, and finally through the mid Atlantic back home to Vermont. We stayed in national parks, state forests, and even a few McDonald's parking lots along the way. This trip is where I first became aware of just how powerful land conservation can be. The preservation of our most sacred lands became a vital focus of my career goals!
The next year I spent two weeks backpacking through four different countries in Europe. Starting in Ireland in the historically rich city of Dublin, I made my way across the countryside. Then off to London where I can trace back my ancestral roots. Paris was the next stop, where I was able to practice my very rough French and experience the wonders of their culture. Switzerland was my final stop. There I was able to gaze upon the majestic Alps and truly understand the beauty of nature.
Outside of these two longer trips, I have traveled throughout much of New England, large parts of Canada, as well as enjoy the breathtaking views of the Rockies here at Regis. I'm an avid kayaker and I love to hike. Time spent outdoors is incredibly important to me and I hope to continue my travels as I also continue my education. My next big trip is to hopefully participate in the Monkey Run, a miniature motorcycle rally through the mountains of Peru!
