Since yesterday I've been having this pop up after maybe an hour into playing the game. It just says "disc read error [8.6], followed by a file that ends in 'backlot.ff', the game restarts and when I try to grg5ibto multiplayer it says I don't have one of the multiplayer packs installed, but I obviously do because I was just playing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and all the multiplayer packs, so what do I do now?
Gamertag?- Season Pass or Standalone DLC purchase? Disc/Digital? What error message you receive with the disk read error? What game modes does it occur in? Zombies/MP? Does the error message change? Does the error occur on all maps? When did you install the DLC? If you have a disc what is your disc CUSA CODE? What Country, State, City are you in?

It was spinning when i first got it but would eject the disc. Changed with parts from that pc drive i picked up. Wouldn't spin anymore. Put original back in and spinning again. I think changing everything else helped because it actually tries to read now but i think i'm gonna need an original disc and not a cdr..
So here I am getting ready to play some good 'ol MW3. I put the game disc in, load up multiplayer and select a game mode. I enter a match, play for a while, and then BAM. MW3 freezes. I mean freezes my whole console. I press the PlayStation button and it doesn't bring up the screen. I need help. I don't want to end up buying a new MW3 or PS3. I had the same thing happen. At first it was once out of every 5 or so games and it got worse until eventually we couldn't get thru a game without it either giveing a "disc read error" or freezing the system completely. We did all of the recommendations in the previous posts. I cleaned the disc, I deleted add-ons, I tried whatever recommendations I could find. I even took the disc into gamestop and they said it looked fine and there was no noticeable damage on the surface of the disc. Since nothing else worked, I sent the disc back to Activision for a replacement. It cost $20 to replace the disc if the game is no longer under warranty but that was cheaper than buying new so sent it back. We got the replacement and it works perfectly.

-Trying to move the files or make copies of them does not work, as i get other errors then. I suspect the game and server files have a hardcoded location for the files, and are unable to understand that the server running the mission files will not let the game download and place the same files at the same location as they are already in use.

My original Xbox One will no longer read discs saying they are dirty or scratched, even if they're brand new discs. I've taken apart my Xbox One and opened up the disc drive, but I don't see any damage or missing parts as far as I can tell. I was thinking it was maybe the Optical Drive Laser but that seems to be fine and isn't moving freely. So nobody here bothered to answer my question or help me, so I basically had to trouble shoot myself. So if anyone is having problems with their disc drive reading disc this is what I did. After disassembling my Xbox One, the first thing I did was order an Xbox One disc drive from Amazon. The IFixIt Store also has Xbox One Optical Disc Lasers for $10, but they are out of stock. IFixIt also has Disc Drives for $60. I picked up this Optical Disc Laser off of Amazon:
I replaced that piece and I also replaced the optical disc laser just in case. When I put my Xbox One back together it started to read disc again. Although there still seems to be some hiccups here and there where I will have to pop the disc out and put it in a second or third time before it reads it. I'm also not sure if this is a problem on the game side or the Xbox side, but I have noticed some games particularly Battlefield games, specifically Battlefield 1 multiplayer is having persistent error -34601 and when playing backwards compatibility games it says this console can not connect to Xbox Live. I don't know why this is occurring, because Xbox One connects to Xbox Live just fine and I can join my friends parties and play Multiplayer on several other games.

When both disc and tray are working well, then the lens that directs the laser may be the culprit of DVD player not reading disc issue. You can clean the laser lens to see if it works. Two cleaning ways: blow away the dust by using a hand-operated photographic dust blower; run a commercially available lens cleaner unit for a few times.
If the problem persists, the laser may be already burned out. Or the problem may lie in the servo alignment. Servo and related devices control the spin of the DVD. So if the servo isn't aligned properly or doesn't work correctly, then it may be unable to recognize the disc or move the disc properly. As a result, it will cause the DVD player to assume there is no working disc.
If the region codes of the DVD player and DVD disc are different, then you need to change the region code on your DVD player. For example, LG/Sony/Samsung/Philips DVD players in the US can only read the NTSC video format standard and Region 1 discs. For a different DVD, the DVD player will not read it. You can change the region code of the DVD player for up to 4 times. If you reach the 5 maximum change limit, you can convert your region-coded DVD to a region-free digital file.
