Restoring the Cemetery

We started the restoration in November 2012.

November 2013. Working group. We spent this year clearing the site.

January 2014. Ready to start planting later in the year.

June 2014

April 2015.

October 2016. The bug hotel, bird box wall and seats installed.

Funded by Metropolitan Public Gardens Association constructed by Age UK Men in Sheds Bromley and Greenwich

July 2016

The Trellis Arch and our new notice board. The trellis arch and seat were funded by Royal Borough of Greenwich Community Project Fund 2016. The planting was sponsored by Parks, Estates and Open Spaces, Royal Borough of Greenwich and Thompsons Garden Centre Welling.

June 2017

The hard landscaping is now complete with the paving slabs in front of the seat. These pictures show how much progress we've made.

August 2020. The burial of Coco Pops the hamster

Although we can't normally accept new burials we made an exception for this young child's hamster.

Remembering Bonzo and wartime pets (August 2019)

In 2018 Mudlark Nicola White discovered Bonzo’s collar tag on Greenwich Beach this led to a Just giving page to raise funds for a Memorial “Remembering War Time Pets” and the story of “Discovering Bonzo ”, monies to build the Tribute corner had already been raised through the Tesco Bags of Help Grant.

On the 10th August 2019 an Event was held to unveil these three Memorials, Clare Campbell author of “Bonzo’s War” unveiled “Remembering War Time Pets” Nicola White, Mudlark, unveiled “Discovering Bonzo” and Mick Mayor of Greenwich unveiled the Tribute Corner the event was well attended and enjoyed by all present

Sue Hunt MBE passed away spring 2020

Sue had been with us from the start and is sadly missed. In her memory we planted a Sorbus Red Tip, red being Sue's favourite colour.
