In memory of faithful Simba and his unselfish devotion to E.A. & R.C.M.
He died on 4th Dec. 1935 aged 14 after 12 years service with the 93rd at home, Jamaica, China & India.
"We could not, if we would, forget each other. When, in turn, the dark shall glaze my eye, your joyous bark will greet me, echoing to the sky. Till then, dear loving heart, good-bye".
The quotation comes from a collection of poems titled "My Dog and Yours" compiled by Joe Walker and printed in 1929.
Why was a dog, possible mascot of the 93rd Argyll Sutherland Highlanders Regiment, buried in a London Pet Cemetery? That we will never know.

The lady in the fur coat and the gentleman by her side are probably Col and Mrs Burden of Blackheath who worked tirelessly for "Our Dumb Friends League". This appears to be an official visit. Do you know who the lady in uniform is? If so please let us know.
