The Oklahoma City Youth Council was invited to assist the Oklahoma City Powwow Club, where we had the opportunity to make new connections and build relationships with diverse individuals. Council members helped with organizing the raffle and spreading awareness about the council's work and mission.
The Oklahoma City Powwow Club asked if the Oklahoma City Youth Council could help them with their Indian taco sale and we went to help and we loved it. it
The Oklahoma City Youth Council organized a fun outing to a local bowling alley, where members had the chance to spend quality time together outside of their usual meetings. As we bowled and socialized, we strengthened are connections, enjoyed friendly competition, and made lasting memories with are peers. It was a great opportunity for team building and to foster a sense of community among the council members.
The Oklahoma City Youth Council attended the Gathering of Native Americans (G.O.N.A.) from October 15-17. During the event, we engaged in activities focused on personal growth, making meaningful connections with others, and learning more about themselves. The experience offered a chance to build strong relationships and take part in various interactive activities.
The Oklahoma City Youth Council visited the First Americans Museum, where we learned about the history and significance of stickball, a traditional Native American sport. During the event, we had the opportunity to play stickball, gain insights into its cultural importance, and connect with their peers.
