The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) released this position statement in December 2019.  This statement guides educators to expand their definition of literacy to include the digital realm, as well as advocates for multiple viewpoints, equity and inclusion as students use digital means to consume, curate and create. 

Today, we need both text and technology to be truly literate. Instead of choosing one over the other, we hold on to tried and true practices and seek new ways to amplify thinking, collaboration and access.
