I am a Full Professor of Applied Electromagnetics within the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen’s University Belfast, UK. I serve as the Head of the ElectroMagnetic Imaging and Sensing (EMIS) Lab in the Centre for Wireless Innovation. Prior to joining Queen’s University Belfast, I was with the NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, USA) and Duke University (Durham, North Carolina, USA), where I am currently an Adjunct Professor.
My research interests include antennas and propagation, reconfigurable antennas, microwave and millimeter-wave antennas, metamaterials and holographic surfaces, and computational electromagnetic imaging. I have authored more than 350 peer-reviewed technical journal and conference articles, and served as a Technical Program Committee Member / Guest Editor of many conferences and journals in these fields. I have been Principal Investigator / Co-Investigator on research grants totaling in excess of £20M in these fields, competively funded by the Leverhulme Trust, ESPRC, UKRI, DSTL, DCMS, EU, British Council and industry.
I am the recipient of several awards, including an Outstanding Postdoc at Duke University Award (2017), Duke University Professional Development Award (2017), NASA Postdoctoral Program Award (2018), British Council Alliance Hubert Curien Award (2019), Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership Award (2020, £1M), Young Scientist Award from the Electromagnetics Academy - Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (2021), Queen's University Belfast Vice Chancellor's Early Career Researcher Prize (2022), Young Engineer Award from the International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation (ISAP, Japan, 2025), European Association on Antennas and Propagation Leopold B. Felsen Award (2026), and 3 Outstanding Associate Editor Awards from the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters (2023, 2024, 2025). I am also an all-career top 2% cited researcher (Mendeley-Scopus).
I am a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. I am also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a member of the European Association on Antennas and Propagation and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I serve as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Nature Scientific Reports, and Remote Sensing.
