Tom Hubbard Award
The Tom Hubbard Award was established by OAER in 1992. This Award was named in memory of a counselor who consistently maintained a high level of professionalism towards his clients and provided timely and appropriate assistance to help them attain their vocational goals. In spite of Tom Hubbard’s life-threatening illness, he worked diligently until his death.
Persons nominated for this award must be a current employee in the field of blindness who exemplifies the highest standards in their field and is an OAER member. Any OAER member is eligible to nominate someone who is making an outstanding contribution in the field of blindness.
1. Any person employed and/or residing within the state of Oklahoma is eligible. The award may be made posthumously provided that death has not taken place more than twelve months prior to the nomination.
2. Persons nominated for the award should be considered carefully. The person must have made some outstanding contribution to services in the field of work for the blind. The nominee should be selected solely on merit and performance. Any member of AER in Oklahoma is eligible to submit the name of a nominee.
3. Nominations shall include supporting statements should adequately justify the person’s nomination.
4. A person who has retired or resigned from his employment or volunteer services may be nominated provided that they have left within the year prior to nomination.
5. The OAER Board may invite up to two persons to be present at the Awards Luncheon as OAER’s guest(s).
