Strength: I am good at providing open and constructive feedback, I teach by example and I am good with follow up.
Weakness: I wait for others to reach out to me for help before stepping into situations.
Plan: Use the teach back method with my patients at patient consultations during my staffing days.

Weakness: Overzealous sometimes.
Plan: I will sign up for a free state diabetes education program and teach at least one class.
Time line: Spring semester.
Outcome Evaluation: I will also provide a survey to my students for feedback.
Strength: I stay motivated and I believe I can keep my class motivated.
Weakness: I have not done a diabetes class and am working on improving my comfort level on the disease state while using motivational interviewing skills.

Dr. Bate is a pharmacist and health educator with strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership, and proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects. She strives to leverage technology and innovation to help advance healthcare and positively impact the lives of patients. She is passionate about system changes to drive patient safety, provide tools and recommendations to health care teams while ensuring overall public health improvements.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and volunteering. She has been on numerous medical mission trips and attended many public health and pharmacy seminars. Dr. Bate is also an independent diabetes educator for Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care. She is passionate about health outcomes and patient advocacy with a focus on diabetes and genetic diseases like sickle cell anemia.
Her long term career aspiration is to become a pharmacy consultant after she has acquired sufficient knowledge in the pharmacy community model of patient care. With her strong understanding of pharmacy business, she hopes to play a part in the improvement of patient care models via technology . She has a passion for patient safety and hopes to be a trailblazer in the field of pharmacy as she continually seeks continuing education and non-traditional paths in her career.
After this program, I am more confident in my use of motivational interviewing and teach back method in counseling patients both in traditional and non-traditional pharmacy settings. As I move forward in my career, I shall continue to seek non-traditional teaching exposures, medical mission teachings and participation community health enrichment programs. I am now equipped with the confidence and knowledge needed to successfully teach and evaluate an audience.
Writing each reflection gave me a chance to think ad critically examine my skills as a pharmacist and person. I am glad I this chance and pushed myself every step of the way. I have grown in confidence, teaching style and ability to critically evaluate my self and others.
