Students in this program go through rigorous courses that cover such topics as occupational health, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, incident investigation techniques, safety management, OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations, data analysis, epidemiology, chemistry, environmental science, physics, and others.

The BS in Public Health - OH&S concentration from CSU Sacramento is also a Qualified Academic Program (QAP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Students are eligible to receive the Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) designation directly after graduation.
