Try-Out season is right around the corner! This meeting will highlight tryout criteria, expectations for the 2026-2027 season, provide cost information, and answer any questions!
Parent/Athlete Information Meeting:
March 3, 2026 @ 6:30pm-7:30pm in Lecture Hall Rm 227

Eligibility Requirements
Must submit all required forms by the deadline 3/30/26
Must return a complete try-out application (please see below) with 2 teacher recommendations
Must be a student in good academic standing (minimum GPA: 2.5)
Must have a completed physical form on file in Athletic Registration (click link)
Must adhere to the school’s code of conduct
Must demonstrate school spirit and positive attitude
Plain white t-shirt and black shorts
Hair must be secured in a high ponytail
Athletic shoes or cheer shoes (no bare feet, crocs, or sandals)
No jewelry or excessive makeup
No Long Nails
A standing back handspring (recommended).
Strong motion technique, jumps (toe touch, hurdler, pike), and ability to learn sideline chants quickly.
Positive attitude, teamwork, and leadership are essential for representing Osborne High School.
Must attend all scheduled practices, summer camp, and competitions.
Must be passing at least 3 out of 4 classes (6 out of 7 for middle school students).
Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher (C average).
Must have no in-school or out-of-school suspensions (ISS or OSS) during the current school year.
Must not exceed 6 unexcused absences for the academic year (3 per semester).
Must have a teacher behavior grade of 'Satisfactory (S)' or higher.
Must receive 2 positive teacher recommendations from current teachers only.
Must have a current and completed athletic registration on file in the CCSD Athletic Registration System.
Must have a standing back handspring (highly recommended) and be working toward a standing bandhandspring, tuck and/or running tumbling series.
Must demonstrate stunting technique, including flyers, bases, and back spots.
Strong, sharp motion technique, and performance projection are required.
Enrollment in Cheerleading tumbling is recommended for continuous skill development.
Must attend all scheduled practices, summer camp, and competitions.
Must maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher due to competition eligibility.
Must be passing all classes at time of tryouts.
Must have no disciplinary referrals or suspensions (ISS/OSS) during the current school year.
Must have excellent attendance (no more than 4 unexcused absences total for the year).
Must have 2 positive teacher recommendations from at least 3 core academic teachers.
Must be in good standing with all previous athletic or extracurricular teams.
Must have a current physical and CCSD athletic registration prior to tryouts.
Please complete this application in full to be considered for the upcoming cheer season. This form helps us learn more about you, your experience, and your interest in joining the cheer team. Be honest, thorough, and take your time—this is your first step in showing your commitment to our program. Participation in tryouts does not guarantee placement on the team. All applicants must meet academic and behavioral expectations and be willing to commit to both sideline (football) and competition cheer if selected. Be sure to attach all required documents before submitting.
