In the spring semester of 2022, Instructors Dr. Katherine Borland, Dr. Stephanie Aubry and the Ohio State's Border Issues and Activism Field School (COMPSTD 4193) got the opportunity to travel to Cincinnati and Cleveland to visit non-profit organizations, groups, and individuals to discuss border issues and how they make themselves present in Ohio.
When people think of border activism and issues, they automatically think of the southern border crisis; however, the border also makes its way around the entirety of U.S., including Ohio. The goal of this field school was to dive deeper and gain a better understanding of the immigration system, listen to the voices of undocumented communities, and explore how these issues have affected families everywhere, including our local areas.
With this blog project, Elisabeth Burns and Allison Li will share all of their learned experiences and knowledge as well as offer a personal moment of reflection regarding the field school and border activism.
