Literacy Through Writing
Writing is a key component of a balanced literacy program. As we complete our required dyslexia training in Ohio, we can explore and recharge our passion for building literacy through writing. This course will focus on how educators can grow and nurture their students as writers to build and strengthen their literacy skills.
This course focuses on examining our practice as writing teachers through a summer professional book study. Participants can choose to read one or both books. Expectations for university credit are to read assigned chapters, write weekly summary/reflection, collaborate and share on discussion board, and complete a final lesson plan with a skills mini-lesson that can be used with students.
