Join our amazing group of volunteers and naturalist as they teach archery and bb gun basics with an emphasis on safety. This program is for all ages, not just kids.
Location: Mosquito Lake Archery Range (Park in the campground overflow parking lot near the camp store. You will see the archery trailer near the archery range.)
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: This program is extremely weather dependent, check the park Facebook page prior to coming the day of the program for cancellation. NO open-toed shoes and kids must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers will be available on site or can be brought with you.

Join us for a Wild Ohio Encounter! Experience the wonder of Ohio’s native wildlife up close with our dedicated local volunteers, Kathy and Bob from BobKats, alongside our park naturalist. This is your chance to meet some of the incredible creatures that call our region home—each with its own story to tell. From majestic birds of prey to curious critters of the forest, these special guests will offer a memorable glimpse into the beauty and diversity of our natural world.
Location: Mosquito Lake State Park Amphitheater
PLEASE NOTE: Park in the campground over flow parking lot and look for the "Program Event" signs to lead you down the path through the woods to the amphitheater.
Cast & Catch Fishin' Fridays
5:30 to 7:00 PM
Whether you're brand new to fishing or just looking to spend a relaxing day by the water, this program is for you! Join us at Mosquito Lake State Park for a laid-back, beginner-friendly fishing session. Our naturalist will be on hand to offer basic instruction, help you get set up, and answer any questions about gear, bait, and local fish species. Fishing poles and bait will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if preferred. All ages welcome! Participants age 16 and older must have a valid Ohio fishing license. Licenses can be purchased at the Mosquito Lake Marina and Boat Rental prior to the program.
Please be aware this activity could get messy.

Owl Prowl at Mosquito Lake
7:30 PM
As dusk settles in, join us for an evening exploration of the campground trails and roads as we listen to the sounds of nightfall. Along the way, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for a resident pair of barred owls that has called this area home for years. This is a unique opportunity to experience the campground after hours while learning about some of Ohio’s most vocal and fascinating raptors. Who knows—we may even have an owl join us on our walk. The program will begin with a small-group owl pellet dissection, where participants will learn about the ecological value of studying these fascinating clues to an owl’s diet. We will then enjoy a short presentation on the owls of Ohio, followed by a guided hike of no more than three-quarters of a mile, mostly on pavement, as we attempt to call in wild owls for observation.

Discover Mosquito Lake State Park: Ohio BioBlitz 250
All Day
Join us for a full day celebrating Ohio’s incredible biodiversity and rich conservation history as part of the America 250 celebrations! This flagship BioBlitz event invites nature lovers of all ages to help us discover, identify, and record as many species as possible across Mosquito Lake State Park in just one day.
Event Highlights:
Morning Guided Surveys: Explore birds at dawn, plants mid-morning, and insects and amphibians by afternoon with naturalists, wildlife experts, and local university partners.
Afternoon Partner Booths: If your organization (Scouts, 4H, Master Gardeners, Birding groups, etc.) wishes to take part, contact Jason at jason.lee@dnr.ohio.gov. Stay tuned for more details and registration information coming in spring 2026!
Self-Guided iNaturalist Challenge: Use the iNaturalist app to log your wildlife sightings all day long — every observation helps us learn more about our park’s natural treasures!
Evening “BioBlitz Bash”: Celebrate your discoveries with a campfire, species tally presentation, and stargazing under the summer sky.
This event is free and open to the public, and it’s a perfect opportunity for families, students, and citizen scientists to connect with nature and contribute to real conservation data.
Lake to Plate Fishing Event

New to fishing? Want to learn some new tricks? This is going to be a program you don’t want to miss. The Division of Wildlife is teaming up with Mosquito Lake to bring you and your families a three-part program that won’t leave you hungry. First, either learn to fish or just join us to help teach new anglers. Then learn how to clean the fish from local fishermen who fish Mosquito Lake every year. Finally, let’s eat!!! Learn a few classic recipes and snack on the final product.

Enjoy a relaxing Pontoon Boat Excursion at Mosquito Lake as a local naturalist and park volunteers guide you on a scenic tour of the southern portion of our man-made lake. Along the way, guests will learn about the natural history of the area, the story behind the lake’s creation, and the wildlife that calls Mosquito Lake home. Participants MUST register (HERE) and will be notified prior to the event. All registrants must complete the Outdoor Activity Waiver. Waivers may be emailed to jason.lee@dnr.ohio.gov or dropped off at the Mosquito Lake State Park Office at least 48 hours prior to the boat tour.

Join us for the Friends of Mosquito Lake Park Flea Market & Craft Show on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Beach Area and In The Woods at Mosquito Lake. Come spend the day shopping local vendors, enjoying food trucks, and taking advantage of improved parking with free shuttle service available. Rain or shine, this is always a fun summer event and a great way to support the Friends of Mosquito Lake. Vendor spaces are available, with reservations requested by July 11, 2026.
