2025 First Day of Winter Hike Series - Nelson Ledges State Park
Location: Nelson Ledges Trail
Hike Rating: Moderate — uneven terrain, ledges, and icy conditions possible
Length: ~2 miles
Winter transforms Nelson Ledges into a breathtaking wonderland of frozen waterfalls, snow-dusted cliffs, and quiet hemlock groves. Join the park naturalist for a guided hike through some of the park’s most scenic areas as we explore the fascinating geology that formed these ancient sandstone ledges and the hardy plant and animal life that endure the coldest season.

Length: ~3.4 miles
Winter has transformed Mosquito Lake into a serene, snowy landscape, and we invite you to join us for a guided hike along Turkey Run Trail to Bloodroot Trail. Take in the untouched winter scenery and discover the natural beauty surrounding the lake. At the end of the hike, don’t miss your chance to collect a 2025-26 Winter Hike Series sticker—available while supplies last! We look forward to sharing this winter adventure with you! A hiking stick, binoculars, sturdy shoes/boots, weather appropriate clothing, and water are recommended.
