Lord, I kneel before You in humble submission and pray that in Your mercy and kindness You would help me to simply let go of all the fears and worries, problems and doubts, guilt and disappointments that seem to be filling my heart and mind so often, during the course of a day.

Fill my hurting soul with Your love and peace I pray. Fill the emptiness and pain that is tearing my life asunder. Lord, You know what is in my heart and why I am going through this time of fear and worry. Help me Lord, to take every thought captive, to hand it over to You as it rears up in my mind, and help me to replace it with thoughts and words of Scripture that tell of Your great might and wonderful power.

Lord, You have told us to think about whatever is lovely and pure and holy and good, and I pray that You would help me to turn the eyes of my heart upon Jesus and look to Him day by day. In Jesus' name I pray,

This is what we fight for everyday. Satan desires to wear out our fresh love for him. Lord we pray that we will really love you by your appearing to us. Lord woo us and win us again and again. Lord you know the fickleness of our heart, Lord you know the competition that transpires there. Lord fight with us to recover our best love for you. Keep us freshly loving you! Lord if our heart ever grows cold warm it up with the kisses of your mouth. And You have the right dear Lord to take and take but Lord do replace with more love to thee. We repent and come back to you. Thank you Lord you still love us. We still love ? you

The lyrics of "My Sweet Lord" reflect Harrison's often-stated desire for a direct relationship with God, expressed in simple words that all believers could affirm, regardless of their religion.[21][22] He later attributed the song's message to Swami Vivekananda,[23] particularly the latter's teaching: "If there's a God, we must see him. And if there is a soul, we must perceive it."[24] Author Ian Inglis observes a degree of "understandable" impatience in the first verse's line "Really want to see you, Lord, but it takes so long, my Lord".[21] By the end of the song's second verse, Harrison declares a wish to "know" God also[25][26] and attempts to reconcile the impatience.[21]

Principal recording took place at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London, with Phil Spector co-producing the sessions.[52] Phil McDonald was the recording engineer for the basic track.[53] It was taped on 28 May, the first day of formal recording for All Things Must Pass, after "Wah-Wah".[54] Having assembled a large cast of backing musicians for the sessions, Harrison initially recorded five takes of "My Sweet Lord" with just acoustic guitars and harmonium before changing to a full band arrangement.[55]

Sweet hour of prayer,

 Sweet hour of prayer.

The joys I feel, the bliss I share.

Of those whose anxious spirits burn

With strong desires for Thy return.

With such I hasten to the place

Where God, my Savior, shows His face.

And gladly take my station there,

And wait for Thee, sweet hour of prayer.

Chapter 1,"The Nature and Kinds of Oral Literature," begins with definitions. Before writing, there is "oral literature"; generic distinctions appear only after writing. "Oral literature" appears to be a contradiction in terms, but by "literature" we mean words crafted artfully. We have, then, singers and listeners, but nothing in writing. "Oral performance" takes place in a "traditional" context, where the singer knows his listeners and they know him. Some are themselves singers and they have heard him before. According to L.'s South-Slavic experience, performance may take place in a house in a village where neighbors gather. Feasts and weddings also offer opportunities for oral song, as do coffee shops. But always singer and listeners share a tight communal life: such is "traditional performance," so that "oral" and "traditional" are not interchangeable terms, the origin of a good deal of confusion in the literature. We classicists will envision parallel conditions, mutatis mutandis, for the Greek Iron Age, and in fact Homer's own descriptions place oral performance in similar contexts.

Chapter 2, "Oral Traditional Lyric Poetry," turns to the composition and transmission of oral traditional nonnarrative songs. Here, if anywhere, we should find evidence that verbatim repetition of oral songs actually does take place, for lyric poems are short enough to be remembered verbatim and the ritual context in which often they are performed might encourage such repetition. For a case study, L. turns to the Latvian dainas, quatrains sung during work and festival, to show how, though very short, there are nonetheless innumerable multiforms of any one song. Serbo-Croatian lyric women's songs in the Milman Parry Collection at Harvard offer similar patterns of variability. Parry's collection is superior not only in quantity and breadth, but because he and L. took down the same song several times from the same singer. Here L. examines in detail riddling and boasting songs to show how the singer works with blocks of lines intermediate between the formula and the theme. He shows how there is a stable but not fixed core of lines to which additions can be made. The concept of a memorized text simply cannot explain such multiforms, which appear to issue from the same technique of composition-in-performance that produces oral epic verse.

This song to me (I may be imparting my own lived experience into it) is about a farmer who is being pulled apart by two worlds. he desperately loves his land at a visceral level where he is incapable of leaving it, no matter the consequences of it. weather it mean that his family has to go hungry, he has to do horrible jobs, even his wife either dies or metaphorically dies from his neglect. He is begging the lord to take away the chains of his binding to the land. In the end he comes to term with the fact that he can not make this break and is willing to die there.

Is your heart troubled? Are you feeling like the events around you are out of control and it's beginning to take a toll on your mental and emotional peace? One of the hardest parts of knowing peace is understanding how it has nothing to do with control. Turning to prayer for peace can offer a retreat from what is burdening your heart. It can help replace your worries and concerns with strength and comfort. If you're having trouble with trusting God or finding the words to pray above the howling of the scary storms, feel free to offer up these words to the Lord now!

I know that trust is a big part of experiencing peace and that fear has no place in my life. Most of the things I worry about or dread don't even happen. So I'm declaring my trust in you. I'm releasing the reins of my life again and asking you to take control. I may need to pray this same prayer daily, but I'm tired of the frenzy of life that leaves my schedule and my thoughts without any margin. I need more of you, Lord, and less of me.

Mary and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem because of an order from the Roman emperor that a census, or record, of all people, be taken in their hometown. After traveling pregnant on a donkey for several days, Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem and were told there were no places to stay. The inns were full. Seeing that Mary was due at any moment, an inn owner told Joseph they could stay in his stable.

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood ...

Joseph appears as Gabriel disappears. It is months earlier, when Mary has first discovered that she is pregnant. She reveals this to Joseph, who is angry and hurt. He wants to know who the father is, since he knows that it is not him. He does not know how they can get married if she is having another man's baby. He worries about what other people will say. It is already the talk of all of their neighbors. Gabriel appears to Joseph and explains that Mary has been chosen to give birth to the Lord, and that he is to be called Jesus. Joseph should still take Mary as his wife, raise Jesus and know that he has been a good man ("Don't Be Afraid"). Joseph accepts it and takes Mary in his arms. They are fearful, but she tells him that they must simply believe. Mary explains that they only need put their faith in God and accept this miracle, that he has chosen them wisely ("Open Your Heart"). Gabriel is pleased and says that they will raise the King of the Jews. As he says this, Herod appears. He laughs and calls this statement nonsense; he is King of the Jews. A scene takes place that is not chronological but establishes Herod and his position. He was appointed King of the Jews by Rome, despite not even being a Jew himself. He has spent his life trying to maintain peace in that region between Persia and Rome ("This Is Herod!"). He has been ruthless and even murdered his own wife and mother-in-law, since they tried to oppose him, but he always dreamed of being king and what that meant ("To Be a King"). 2351a5e196
