Welcome to the OGT Radon Resource Page. This page provides information and links to Federal/Provincial governments' sites as well various other Canadian sites that will help our residents become more informed on health/safety issues of Radon. It is important to note that Radon is a naturally occurring gas, however, it is the leading cause of lung cancer in Canada!
It is important to note that the standards for Radon levels and remediation are different between Canadian and American authorities. Therefore, only Canadian sources for Radon information is provided on this site. Additionally, the standard unit of measurement for Radon in Canada and most of the world (with the exception of the USA) is a becquerels per cubic meter (Bq/m3). The threshold level for Radon in Canada is 200 Bq/m3 whereas in the USA it is 148 Bq/m3.
