June 16, 1940 - July 5, 2023
In memory of the late Olin Gallman, Jr., we the family want to honor youth who have the desire to continue their education by attending a 2-or 4-year institution or vocational/trade school. The late Olin Gallman, Jr., lived a life of faith, love, and courage. He was a leader in his church, home, and community. Born on June 16, 1940, in Newberry County to the late Olin Gallman, Sr. and Ida Mae Miller Gallman. Olin attended Newberry County Schools and graduated from Gallman High School in 1959. During his time at Gallman High School, he held various leadership positions.
In the home, Olin was dedicated to God and his family. At a very early age, he demonstrated a strong work ethic. Most importantly, he demonstrated love and a commitment to Christ. He was wise and depended upon the Word of God to help guide him and lead his family. How he lived in the home, church, and community reflected his love for Jesus Christ. Despite his health challenges, God blessed him with a heart transplant in January, 2003. God granted him 20 years with a new heart. He continued to use his time to honor and praise God whom he loved since a young man.
He served faithfully at Oak Grove Presbyterian church until his death. At a very young he was elected as a Trustee. Later, he was elected as an Elder. Over the years, he served on several major building projects for the church. For thirty years, he was the treasurer at Oak Grove, member of the church men’s choir, and the Men of Faith community. He also served as the treasurer for the Men of Faith. After his father's death, he became president of the Burial Aid Society for Oak Grove.
The family of Olin Gallman, Jr., his wife Geneva Hardy Gallman, and children, William (Dennis), Gail, and Tony wishes to honor his legacy by providing a yearly scholarship in his name.
Those of you who knew our father and would like to contribute to his memory and his love for his church, family, and community are welcome to do so. Contributions are tax-deductible.
