Of the Sparrows is a global archive dedicated to collecting women’s maiden names and the personal, cultural, and emotional stories connected to them. It explores how identity is shaped, preserved, or transformed across cultures and generations.
This project was created to document stories that are often not formally recorded—especially those related to women’s names and identity. It aims to preserve personal narratives and highlight how naming traditions reflect culture, family, and individual choice.
The name Of the Sparrows is inspired by the founder’s mother’s maiden name, and her experience as the last in her family to carry it forward.
Anyone who would like to submit a maiden name or story about a woman is welcome to contribute. This includes people from all countries, cultures, and backgrounds.
Not automatically. Submissions are reviewed before being featured publicly in the archive. Only approved entries will appear on the website.
You may choose what details to include. Personal information is not required, and submissions can be anonymous. The archive prioritizes privacy, consent, and respectful storytelling.
