Offline Start Page – Private New Tab is a customizable Chrome New Tab extension. It allows users to organize website shortcuts, notes, tasks, RSS feeds, weather widgets, pages, icons, backups, and appearance settings.
The extension may handle the following information:
Website addresses and titles added as shortcuts
Website icons and favicon information
Notes, tasks, widget settings, and other dashboard content created by the user
RSS feed addresses and content retrieved from those feeds
A city or postal code entered into a weather widget
Information about an open browser tab when the user explicitly requests website-icon discovery
This information is handled only to provide the extension’s dashboard features.
Dashboard information is stored locally in Chrome by default. This may include shortcuts, notes, tasks, pages, settings, uploaded icons, and local recovery snapshots.
The developer does not operate a server that receives or stores this dashboard information.
Chrome Sync is disabled by default.
When the user explicitly enables Chrome Sync, eligible dashboard information may be stored through the user’s Chrome account and synchronized between Chrome installations. Chrome Sync is provided and operated by Google and is subject to Google’s applicable privacy practices.
When a user configures a weather widget, the entered city or postal code is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding and weather services to identify the location and retrieve weather information.
The extension does not use weather information for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
When a user adds an RSS feed, the extension connects directly to the feed address supplied by the user and retrieves the feed’s content.
The operator of that website or feed may receive standard network information associated with the request, such as the user’s IP address, as is normal when connecting to a website.
The extension may access website addresses, page titles, or favicon information from open tabs only when needed for a user-requested icon lookup or deep icon scan.
The extension does not continuously monitor browsing activity, record browsing history, log keystrokes, or track mouse movements.
The developer does not sell user data.
Data is not transferred to third parties except where necessary to provide a feature selected by the user, including:
Google Chrome Sync, when explicitly enabled
Open-Meteo, when using a weather widget
RSS-feed providers, when retrieving a feed
Websites selected by the user for favicon or icon retrieval
The extension does not contain advertising.
The extension does not use user data for personalized advertising, retargeting, creditworthiness, lending decisions, or unrelated analytics.
Locally stored dashboard information remains in Chrome until the user deletes it, resets the extension, clears extension storage, or uninstalls the extension.
Users can remove individual shortcuts, widgets, notes, tasks, pages, backups, and synchronization settings from within the extension.
Uninstalling the extension normally removes its locally stored extension data. Data stored through Chrome Sync may also be managed through the user’s Google and Chrome Sync settings.
Remote requests made by the extension use secure HTTPS connections when supported and required by the relevant service.
No remotely hosted executable code is downloaded or executed by the extension. All executable extension code is included in the extension package distributed through the Chrome Web Store.
The use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
User data is used only to provide or improve the extension’s disclosed new-tab dashboard features. It is not sold, used for personalized advertising, or made available for humans to read except when required by law, for security purposes, or when a user deliberately provides information while requesting support.
The extension is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
This privacy policy may be updated when the extension’s functionality or data practices change. The effective date shown at the top will be updated when material changes are made.
