Obtaining a Marriage License:
You and your fiancé need to obtain a marriage license before your ceremony (no longer than 6 months prior, up until the day-of).
Both of you should go to the courthouse to apply together in person. In most counties you will need to make an appointment in advance. If one of you cannot make it in, you will have to fill out a special form in advance and have it notorized.
Every county is slightly different, so please refer to you county's website for further information. Here are a few links to the courthouses nearest to me:
Filing the Marriage License:
I will fill out your license the day of the ceremony (so don't forget to bring it!!). I will help you get all signatures needed. I will file your marriage license for you by mail. I need to make sure it gets to the courthouse within 5 days, or I will be fined. The county will send you your Marriage Certificate very soon after, then you can get started on any name changes and status changes.
