Holy Trinity Church, our longest-standing partner within the Friar's Society, has been instrumental in offering meaningful service opportunities to our members. Through our collaboration, we actively participate in preparing and serving meals for the West Chester community, as well as restocking and help organize the food pantry. This initiative not only enables us to support local individuals in need but also fosters a strong sense of community engagement and service.
Sweet Charity benefits the Chester County Community Foundation, which has been growing legacy philanthropy throughout the region for 30 years. The Community Foundation helps families and individuals with charitable giving for now and forever, by encouraging legacy gifts and increasing awareness of the needs and issues facing Chester County. Sweet Charity started in 2005 as a fundraiser and friend raiser for the Chester County Community Foundation. The goal was to invite existing fund advisors, future fund advisors, and community members to get together to support the Community Foundation. Sweet Charity is a fun way to encourage generosity and philanthropy in our region!
This event was created by our own brother Gavin Synder. Gavin founded the display in 2016 with a mission to raise money for the Brandywine Valley SPCA. Not only has the walk-through holiday display raised over $60,000 since its creation, but Gavin has founded a sense of community within his display. With the help of the Friar's and Abbe's he has expanded the causes and holidays he raises money for. In 2024, both Friars and Abbes joined in a haunted hay walk, which raised money for our very own tradition, Holiday Family, a way to give unprivileged children a great holiday season.
