Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Universiti Utara Malaysia (MPP UUM), also known as the Student Representative Council of Universiti Utara Malaysia (SRC UUM), holds a pivotal role as the preeminent body for student governance within the esteemed confines of Universiti Utara Malaysia. As a testament to the principles of democracy, the council members are elected through a robust electoral process, serving as the quintessential conduits to convey the diverse spectrum of student perspectives, not only within the confines of the institution's decision-making echelons but also on the broader national canvas of higher education policies.
For the 2023/2024 session, the distinguished cohort of MPP UUM comprises a total of 44 council members, meticulously selected to ensure comprehensive representation. This constellation includes 10 general representatives and 34 school representatives, the latter category being composed of two representatives hailing from each school under the university's purview. These council members, serving as the veritable embodiment of the student body's collective voice, have undergone the rigorous crucible of the Universiti Utara Malaysia's Student Representatives Council Election Session for the 2023/2024 academic term, commonly referred to as the Pemilihan Majlis Perwakilan Pelajar Universiti Utara Malaysia Sesi 2023/2024 (PMPP UUM).
The tapestry of this electoral endeavor was woven on the 17th of January, 2023, drawing the active participation of an impressive cohort of around twenty thousand UUM students, representing both the undergraduate and postgraduate strata of the academic community. It was this conscientious engagement that set the stage for the formal installation of the MPP UUM 2023/2024 council members. The resplendent moment materialized by the Board of Director of Universiti Utara Malaysia, or known as Lembaga Pengarah Universiti UUM (LPU UUM) within the august halls of the University Senate Room at UUM, on the momentous date of the 15th of February, 2023. This occasion, marked by the SRC Supreme Council Announcement Session, heralded the official investiture of the council members, an event that resonated with the promise of a dynamic and inclusive year ahead.
