The Circuit Encrypter is developed in the EU and must fully respect the GDPR directive. Failure to do so can result in heavy penalties.
At no time now or in the future will any personal data, or any other form of data, be collected or transmitted through the Circuit Vault extension outside your local browser. All code is self contained and does not depend on code hosted on 3rd party servers (or services). All encryption is carried out locally (no encryption is generated on Circuit servers).
When you install the Chrome extension, Google will store information about the following:
Country where the extension was purchased
Browser type
Computer OS type
How many users currently use the extension with historical information (daily, weekly, monthly, etc)
To enable the above statistics Google analytics is added to the extension to track if the application is performing as expected (number of installations, removals, and active users per time period). It is not possible to see who is using the application and no personal information is stored in the Chrome Developer Dashboard and no personal information will ever be collected anywhere throughout the lifetime of the extension.
Network analysis during tests showed that when encrypting text, information is being transmitted back to Circuit servers. This is normal and it not directly caused by the Circuit Encrypter extension itself. This transmission is outside the scope of this extension and is most probably a result of a Circuit function that informs other users that a message is being replied to. Tests also showed that text may be transmitted in order to retain the users Circuit session in the event of a browser crash (restore Circuit where the user last left off).
