The Office of Education works to advance education both within NOAA and with the public we serve. We provide scholarships and collaborate with universities to prepare the brightest minds from diverse backgrounds in NOAA-related fields. We offer competitive grants and establish partnerships to integrate NOAA science into schools and organizations. Lastly, we help coordinate educational activities across NOAA and with external partners to ensure that these efforts are effective and continually improved.

We oversee the state's diverse public school system, which is responsible for the education of more than 6,000,000 children and young adults in more than 10,000 schools with 300,000 teachers. We are in charge of enforcing education law and regulations and continuing to reform and improve public school programs.

The county offices are the focal point of general support, oversight and routine communications between local districts and the Department's central offices. Each county office is led by an Executive County Superintendent and has a core staff, which includes an Executive County Business Official, a County Education Specialist and a County Special Education Specialist.

The Marin County Office of Education offers programs and services for students, teachers, and families in Marin County. MCOE services eighteen school districts in our county, supporting technology and educational services in public as well as private K-12 institutions.

Robert M. Bracker is dedicated to improving student outcomes through a structured and student-centered educational approach designed around the framework established by the Nogales Unified School District #1. The Robert M. Bracker Elementary school team works collaboratively with our parents and the community we are dedicated to ensuring that our Bracker Dolphins always shine.

Secondly, as an AVID Site of Distinction, our teachers use engaging strategies to empower students to have agency and generate ownership of their college and career goals. In the last few years, we have made sure all of our staff members are trained in the AVID program, and this unified umbrella of education has helped create disciplined structure of consistent focused notes, tutorials, and use of writing and reading in all classrooms. Every student also has access to free college courses at Central Arizona College in the school and transportation to the CAVIT program that gives students even more opportunity for their futures. Over 75% of our students are enrolled in college and/or CAVIT before they graduate.

Finally, consistency is key. Students and families need consistent expectations, systems, policies and structure not only in the school as a whole but in each classroom. They need consistent discipline. They need consistent support. They need consistent, intentional and rigorous education. With little staff turnover on this campus, our students understand the expectations, and they feel part of something more. We often say that Mission Heights is not just a building students come to in order to get education, it is a family they become a part of. As soon as students walk through our doors, they become part of that family and the high expectations to show MOTIVATION, HEART and PURPOSE in all they do as they go out into the world.

The Worsley School Book Club, located within the Fresno County Juvenile Justice Campus, comprises detainees attending the court school administered by our office at the facility. Initiated by teacher/librarian Michele Ogawa, the club, reestablished with the support of a grant from the American Library Association, focuses on connecting young readers with culturally diverse stories that resonate with their own experiences. One hundred hours of early field experience is required to be admitted to student teach, and this is embedded in required education coursework. Non-course requirements for entering the Professional Methods Sequences are listed here. Professional Methods Sequences must be satisfactorily completed prior to student teaching.

When qualified for student teaching, students register for the student teaching course (which is divided into two sessions). This office assesses applicants' eligibility to student teach. It then coordinates and places qualified students in New York schools for their student teaching experience and monitors their progress.

OCF administers a number of City-supported programs, including Out-of-School Time, WorkReady, Community Schools, and PHLpreK. The office also oversees the Department of Human Services (DHS), Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and the Free Library of Philadelphia.
