Offaly Rowing Club was established nearly 40 years ago by our current president Frank Durkin and became affiliated to Rowing Ireland in 1985. After humble beginnings based at Thomas’ Lock we moved to our current boathouse in 1993 at Lock 23.
Since its inception the Club has achieved great success, winning 47 national titles and has developed athletes who have represented Ireland at international level. In recent years parents, former members and other adults have joined to race and to row recreationally.
More importantly, Offaly Rowing Club has provided hundreds of people, juniors and adult members, the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, develop their rowing skills whilst engaging with their peers in a positive productive manner.
Offaly Rowing Club is committed to offering opportunities for people of all backgrounds to participate in rowing, to develop their skills, train and compete at the highest level as is appropriate to their ability, in tandem with their individual stage of development. This is achieved with excellent local facilities in a safe, supportive, friendly and inclusive environment.
If you are interested in trying rowing please contact us via Facebook or email the secretary (details below). Trial membership is available.
