For people flying in, we recommend flying to Copenhagen airport.
From Copenhagen airport there are trains going to Odense central station. We recommend looking for IC or ICL trains as they do fewer stops on the way to Odense, and you will not have to change trains in Copenhagen.
Within Odense, there is a tram (letbane) running between the town center and campus.
There is a tram going from the city centre directly to the Odense Campus. Get off the tram at the stop called ‘SDU University’ and follow the signs for the lecture hall. You will simply need to walk a few metres in the same direction that the tram was going, make a right around the corner and then make another right through a revolving door. After climbing a flight of stairs, the lecture hall (room number U301) will be on your left. For more information about the tram and how to purchase tickets, see https://www.odenseletbane.dk/english.
The campus in Odense is rather big and it is easy to get lost but there is a local map service here
https://clients.mapsindoors.com/sdu/573f26e4bc1f571b08094312/search
and it also exists as an app called ‘’SDU Maps’’. In the app, you can simply type in U301 to get directions from wherever you might be on campus.
The following are some hotel recommendations for the conference. Note that this is not an exhaustive list of hotels in Odense.
Cabinn Odense (likely the cheapest option, also quite basic)
Lunch is not included in the conference but there is a fairly large canteen on Campus where one can go and get lunch. It is a bit of a walk from the lecture hall to the canteen, but we will try to guide you there on Monday so that everybody knows the way. In the SDU Maps app, one can type in ‘Food Hall’ to get directions to the canteen.
On the way to the canteen is a smaller sandwich place called ‘Hav A Java’ where one may find a smaller selection of salads, sandwiches and baked goods.
On Monday, there will be a small reception right after the lectures. It will take place right in front of the lecture hall and includes drinks and a few snacks.
On Thursday, the conference dinner is taking place in the city centre at a venue called ‘Privaten’ starting at 18:00. The address is: Jernbanegade 3, 5000 Odense and the venue is on the first floor. All recipients of this email are invited to join the dinner which includes (free) food and drinks from 18:45 to 23:45. There is also a welcome drink served from 18:00. We need to know the number of participants and their dietary requests, so if you would like to join the conference dinner, it is important to sign up via the following google form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1TrG-TsoRZyHH3I5OV41y0zWcMn8YRvGJr4wtNRha6oY/edit
with deadline on Monday August 19 at noon. If you are travelling with your partner, they too are invited to join the dinner and you should simply fill in a registration form for them as well.
On Wednesday there will be a free afternoon. While no official excursions are planned, for people looking to see Odense we can recommend
