The Healthy Bearcat Families Lab works to improve health outcomes, health behaviors, quality of life, and development of infants, children, and adolescents. We aim to do this by understanding factors that promote healthy lifestyles and reduce risk for obesity and health-related comorbidities. We also seek to develop prevention and intervention efforts to promote healthy lifestyles, including healthy eating behaviors and physical activity, from infancy through late adolescence. This involves not only working with infants, children, and adolescents, but also their families. We believe promoting healthy living among the entire family is most effective for improving child health behaviors and child health outcomes. The Healthy Kids Lab works with multidisciplinary collaborators, including researchers and clinical faculty at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, to understand the complexity of health behaviors and health outcomes. Our work has received support from both internal and external funders, including the National Institutes of Health.
