Sometimes it can be hard to engage youth at meetings. Spice things up a little bit with an engagement activity. These can be done at any time during your meeting. Take a peek at these ideas below and pick one that might work for your group. Or, give the kids the choices of these three titles and have them vote on which one they want to participate in.
Have all youth get together in a circle, holding hands. Toss a balloon in the middle. Youth must keep the balloon off the ground without unlatching hands. They can kick, use their locked hands, or use their head to keep the balloon off the ground.Â
Throw in multiple balloons...watch the fun!
Note: The smaller the balloon, the quicker gravity kicks in.
Be aware of any latex allergy. Yes, you can purchase latex free balloons. (They are made from rubber.)
Everyone loves Bingo. This is an opportunity for your youth to get to know others in your club a little better.
Give away prizes for a Bingo or just have fun!
Tip: Use an unusual item for Bingo Markers like Cheerios or coins.
Youth get in a line across from one another. You give them a prompt to talk about. Ring a bell or find another way for them to show that you're ready to move on.
Before stating the next prompt, have each youth on one side move two spaces to the right. (This will allow for the youth to have conversations with someone new.)
Conversation Prompts:
What is your favorite pizza topping? Least favorite?
What's your favorite food? Who makes it the best for you?
What's your favorite holiday? Why?
If you could be a superhero, what would your superpower be? Why?
If you could change your age, what would you change it to and why?
