Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 31, 2026

App Name: Octave Slate

Developer Contact: octaveslate-support@gmail.com

Overview

Octave Slate helps users keep a private medication reference and dose record on their device. This policy explains what information the app stores, what it does not intentionally collect, and how optional third-party services are used.

Information We Collect

Octave Slate stores user-entered profiles, medication names, dosage text, medication form, notes, selected colors, schedule times, dose log actions, dose log notes, theme preference, and active profile settings locally on the device using Hive storage.

Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

The app does not include an account system, authentication, cloud sync, analytics SDK, ads SDK, crash reporting SDK, location access, camera access, microphone access, contacts access, or photos access.

How We Use Information

Local information is used to display medication files, calculate same-day scheduled doses, record taken, snoozed, or skipped dose actions, show recent history, manage profiles, and preserve app settings.

Data Sharing

Octave Slate does not intentionally send locally stored medication, profile, schedule, or dose history data to the developer. The app does not sell user data.

Third-Party Services

The app uses Google Play Billing through the in_app_purchase package for optional contribution purchases. Purchase processing is handled by Google Play. The app also opens the privacy policy URL in a WebView, which requires internet access and may be subject to the website provider's handling of web requests.

Data Storage and Security

Medication, profile, settings, and dose history data are stored locally on the user's device through Hive. The source code does not implement custom encryption or cloud backup for this data. Device-level protections, operating system controls, and user backups may affect local data security.

Data Retention and Deletion

Data remains on the device until the user edits it, deletes individual items where available, deletes all app data from the Settings screen, uninstalls the app, or clears app storage through the operating system. There is no account deletion process because the app does not create user accounts.

Children's Privacy

Octave Slate is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children through accounts, analytics, ads, or cloud services.

User Choices

Users can choose what information they enter, manage profiles and medication files in the app, switch theme mode, view the privacy policy, make optional contribution purchases, and delete all local app data from the Settings screen.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated when app behavior, data handling, dependencies, or legal requirements change. The updated effective date will identify the latest version.
