Weather and what to bring:
Azorians will tell you that they have four seasons like most places. Except all are in one day! So it would be advisable to come with the following:
Light clothes for most of the warm days. Evenings can have a nip so bring something light and warm.
A light rain jacket or coat. If you prefer to use a small umbrella, do bring that.
Good walking shoes especially for the city walk and the hike on Wednesday July 6th.
Swimming outfit for those inclined. The water is relatively warm and very safe in the bay next to the hotel venue.

Notes:
Attire for the city reception is 'somewhat formal' given the Mayor will be presiding at City Hall (Camara Municipal). Attire for the symposium itself is informal.
For those inclined to swim in the sea, note the color of the flags on the beach. Unless the flag is green, do not swim. There are lifeguards on the concrete pier next to the hotel.
The Venue is Hotel do Caracol, Estrada Regional, nº 1, Angra do Heroísmo, 9700-193.
The symposium will be at the 200 seat well-ventilated Vitorino Nemesio Ballroom with an outdoor tent for meals and a direct access to the garden and views to the small bay adjacent to the property. Snacks and beverages will be provided continuously throughout the working part of the symposium.
Participants arriving on July 2nd/3rd and those departing on Friday July 8th can avail of a free airport bus transfer. The Lajes airport which serves Terceira, is about 20km away.
