Oceania Youth Chess Championships 2026

Canterbury Chess Club, on behalf of the New Zealand Chess Federation, Oceania Chess Confederation, and FIDE, invite players from all Oceania National Chess Federations and associated members to participate in the 2026 Oceania Youth Chess Championships to be held in Christchurch, New Zealand from the 9th to the 13th of April 2026.
Divisions
14 tournaments in total consisting of 7 age group divisions of Open & Female sections in each:
U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, U20
This event has been supported by the FIDE Development Fund.
The Christchurch Marathon will be run on 12 April and there will be some road closures in the area of the Town Hall. https://www.christchurchmarathon.co.nz/residents-information has more details and a map of the road closures.

IA Robert Gibbons has been appointed chief arbiter.
Fair Play measures have been added to the Technical Regulations. Key points are that phones and other electronic devices are not permitted in the playing room unless authorised by the chief arbiter, and there will be supervised storage available outside the playing room which players and spectators may use (or players can leave them with their parents/adults). There will also be a scanner in use.
