Ocean School app for iOS

The app keeps crashing! I can’t open it.

Did you allow the app to access the camera on your device?

Did you allow the app to access the camera on your device?

On some devices, denying access to your camera can cause the app to freeze or close unexpectedly.

You can give the app access to your camera by changing the settings on your device.

To allow access to your camera:

  1. Open Settings on your iOS device.

  1. Scroll down to see the list of apps on your device.

  1. Tap on the Ocean School app (sometimes labeled as “ROPOS”).

  1. You will see a camera icon. Toggle the switch beside the camera to green.

Now the app can use your camera.

We can’t connect our devices for Fly ROPOS! (Fly ROPOS)

Are your devices connected to the same wireless network?

Check your device’s Settings to be sure. For instructions, please read Connect to a Wi-Fi network.

If your WiFi connection is not reliable, you can use an Android or iOS device to create a WiFi hotspot (standard data charges may apply).

To create a Wi-Fi hotspot, please see one of the articles below:

Do I really need a partner to pilot the ROPOS? (Fly ROPOS)

It is possible to pilot the ROPOS by yourself, but you will still need two devices!

The experience was designed so the ‘captain’ and ‘operator’ need to cooperate to collect specimens. That’s why we recommend piloting the ROPOS in pairs. You may find it challenging to manage all of the steps on your own.

I can only see part of the whale! (Where's Whaledo)

Is the whale too close to the wall or ceiling?

To reposition the whale:

  1. Tap the "MOVE" button on the right side of the screen to move the whale.

  2. Touch and drag along the green, red, and blue arrows to move the whale around.

You can also rotate the whale by swiping.

Is the 3D box around the whale too small?

If you accidentally set the corners or the height of the room incorrectly, try resetting the room!

To reset the room:

  1. Tap on the menu icon.

  2. Select “Reset room”.

If parts of the whale are still not visible, your room is smaller than the whale! The orca is a lot smaller than the right whale. If the right whale won't fit, try an orca in your space instead!

You can also try moving to a bigger room or to an outdoor space.
