Are there any mods/hack roms for OOT that just enhance the game much like most BOTW mods instead of being like a completely full game? Like a mod that adds more content to the world of oot, that would be awesome.

There's tons of mods I've been pretty invested in for years, although because of my lack of PC I've never got around to playing them myself and rely on YouTube.

Project Izou was one I was pretty excited about, although it's dead at this point and hasn't been updated since like 2013. Another was Timeless 64, the beta mod (beta Triforce I think..?), and some aesthetic/graphics mods are some I can think of - although I could list many more.

Nonetheless, modding in OoT always looks like so much fun.

What are some OoT mods you're interested in? Have you tried any? I'd like to know.

This is a combination of two mods/hacks for Ocarina of Time and a tracker. The first one, the Randomizer, I suspect most people will be at least familiar with from things like GDQ, but may have been too intimidated by them to try themselves. The other, ModLoader64, is a tool used to let you play Ocarina Of Time online with your friends with synchronous multiplier (e.g. the state of the game is synchronized between all players).

Luckily, if you need to take a break, you can always save the game and load it up again later. The way the online in these mods work means that there's no need to do everything in one single session and can easily be stopped and picked up at any point.

If this post piques your interest in trying it out. I would recommend just doing the "Easy Mode" preset on the randomizer for your first time, as it makes the run decently open and removes some of the more annoying checks from the run.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an action-adventure video game developed by Nintendo's Entertainment Analysis and Development division for the Nintendo 64 video game console. It was released in Japan on November 21, 1998; in North America on November 23, 1998; and in Europe on December 11, 1998. Originally developed for the Nintendo 64DD peripheral, the game was instead released on a 256-megabit (32-megabyte) cartridge, which was the largest-capacity cartridge Nintendo produced at that time. Ocarina of Time is the fifth game in The Legend of Zelda series, and the first with 3D graphics.

Another way to look at it is to compare it with old PC games. Try playing an old game like DOOM on a modern machine and the graphics will be very outdated, even though you can technically play the game in 1080p on a computer today. There are mods and texture packs to update the the graphics for older games, this is one of them!

Sorry for the long and necropost, but it could save me a lot of time when i will make rerolls, that could allow me to do spider areas/quests with the mod and then back to the classic game at 100 when i will make some casual farming with friends.

One last question would be about patches, even if i already got a part of the answer. Will i have to copy again the directory anytime Crate will release a new patch like the previous one ? Anyway if i have, i already have 3 copies of your work in 3 separate drives just to be safe hahaha. It makes sense if i will have to, but since yet i am not familiar with the game mechanics.

or delete the folder yourself:

settings\ creatures\enemies\insects\anm\dermapteranqueen

not sure why, maybe the death animation from phase 1 was moving the model to a position where the second phase would not be visible. Luckily the skeleton from those 2 creatures are the same, so everything is working fine. If I had known they have the same skeleton I could have saved myself the time of copy/renaming the yeti animations in the first place

Hi I am a player from Taiwan.

This is the first time I registered a foreign forum, just to praise thee my lord

I am SOOOOOOOO glad that someone has turned those (ughhhhhhh) into boars, and see how tiny they are! I think boars are a good choice because they sound actually quite similar.

After instal the mod i noticed a very few issues. The wild pokemon track/music in Kanto (at the moment i only have acces to kanto) doesnt seems to play when you find a wild pokemon, only a few times (Like 1 of 5 times it play correctly) most of the time it plays the normal wild pokemon track/music whic can be annoying because the original pokemmo track is louder.

Then, download the OotModLoader to create an online lobby and play Ocarina of Time Online multiplayer with friends. Other players must have the mod installed and have a 1.0 version of Ocarina of Time downloaded to enjoy the multiplayer in Ocarina of Time Online. Once all players have it open, Ocarina of Time multiplayer can be enjoyed by up to four people. From there, other mods can be simultaneously installed with OotModLoader, including graphical upgrades. Unfortunately, these tend to make the mod unstable.

A few common issues might occur when trying to play Ocarina of Time Online. It is possible to have multiple Ocarina of Time Mod Loaders open at the same time. If this happens, simply go into Task Manager and Force Stop all of them before trying to start the mod up again. Other issues can occur with the Mod Loader itself. In this situation, players need to go into the folder for OotModLoader and open up OotModLoader-config.json in Notepad. Find the part written as "isMaster," and if after the colon it says "True," replace it with "False." If there is still any trouble with the Ocarina of Time Online mod and its gameplay, make sure that every player is accessing the same server. Using the same Notepad for reference, ensure the Master Server IP and Master Server Port are identical in OotModLoader as they are in the OotModLoader-config.

Another problem that players might experience when playing Ocarina of Time Online for the first time happens if the OotModLoader hasn't downloaded Bizhawk. Bizhawk are zip files included in the downloaded folder of OotModLoader. If they do not automatically download, extract them into the general mod folder where any modding details have previously been extracted. This should be done automatically the first time the mod is booted, but it does not always happen.

Due to how the multiplayer function works, it's possible for one player to be able to fetch items for the other player trying to complete the dungeon. Since players share the same items, this means they can finish parts of the dungeons with minimal backtracking, with players simply using each other to blaze their path. This makes Ocarina of Time Online slightly easier than the regular version of the game. At the same time, it isn't quite the same as a full-blown multiplayer Zelda experience, as is the case in The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.

"However, please understand that this is a very large amount of work for a single person (Over a hundred hours were spent working on this, for example) and that my free time is often limited, so it will take a while to have a proper release, especially when I have many other projects in the works."

Prime example - Twilight Princess on GCN - it was as horrifically textured as OOT which was a disgrace compared to Banjo Kazooie in 1998!!! TP is arguably the worst textured game of all time, hence why Nintendo employed Straight Right to remaster it on Wii U - and it looks stunning.

Just watched that video entirely. Man, what a bloody annoying voice that guy has. I have to wonder about the 9K subscribers...

His camera work is also excruciatingly bad. He's moving in all directions all the time, it didn't make for a pleasant experience watching it.

The Scared Palance isn't also lacking in detail. Several reviews have praised how this mod is not a lazy interpretation of Ocarina's charm, and how the developers have paid great attention to detail in every single location and dungeon. As for side content, there are 100 Skulltula tokens to find and 20 hearts to collect, which should keep fans occupied for quite some time until the official new Zelda arrives (The average YouTube playtime is at least 20 hours for a full run).

This isn't the first time fans have tried something like this, and we've already gotten our hands before on another mod that attempted to bridge the gap between Ocarina of Time and its official sequel, Majora's Mask. It also seems that Nintendo isn't really hell-bent on taking down these mods like the recent Breath of the Wild multiplayer incident, and they're still up on Romhacking, so it's safe to say that there's no time limit on when players can enjoy Ocarina of Time mods and The Sacred Palace experience for the time being.
