To all veterans: Thank you for your service! The American Legion is a non-profit organization that has been serving veterans and their families since 1919. It is the largest wartime veterans service organization in the United States, with over 2 million members in more than 12,000 posts worldwide.

Joining a local chapter of the American Legion can provide veterans with a sense of community and belonging. Members can participate in a variety of activities, including volunteering, fundraising, and social events. The organization also provides opportunities for veterans to connect with other veterans who have shared experiences and can offer support and guidance.

In addition to the social benefits, membership in the American Legion also provides access to a wide range of resources and benefits. These include discounts on travel, insurance, and other services, as well as assistance with VA claims and appeals.

If you are a veteran looking for ways to connect with other veterans and give back to your community, joining a local chapter of the American Legion is a great way to get involved. The Ocala Post is located at 2001 SE 32nd Ave., Ocala, FL 34471. Our email address is: legionpost27ocala@gmail.com.

Thank you again for your service!

Patriots Day is an event all veterans and other patriots should attend.  The staff at the Veterans Memorial Park have been working hard to create events like this throughout the year.

Be the One is a program adopted by Post 27 that aims to end the stigma related to asking for mental health help while empowering veterans, servicemembers and civilians to take the appropriate action when the life of a veteran or servicemember may be at risk.

The "Be the One" program, has been making a significant impact in recent years. This program is not only changing the lives of veterans and their families but also contributing to the betterment of society as a whole. It has a clear mission: to provide support and resources to veterans struggling with mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The program encourages individuals, especially fellow veterans, to step forward and be the support system that struggling veterans need.

The "Be the One" program is a shining example of how a well-designed initiative can have a profound impact on individuals, communities, and society as a whole. By addressing the critical issue of veterans' mental health, breaking down stigma, and fostering a culture of support, this program is changing lives and saving them. It serves as a reminder that, no matter who we are, we all have the capacity to "Be the One" who makes a difference in someone's life.
