The Obsidian Order - Part of the NZLG community.

The New Zealand Lightsaber Guild is the home of New Zealand’s active lightsaber community. Founded in 2017 by a handful of people in Rotorua, we’ve expanded to a social media community of close to 1,500 people.

We’re a non-profit & fan-led. Our goal is to connect like-minded kiwis to better enjoy our favourite fandom.

You can find local, volunteer-run saber meets, talk about saber tech & installs, learn how to wield your saber in a safe & stylish manner & canvas buying advice for nz lightsabers. Late 2021 saw the start of our National Lightsaber Tournaments with an aim of holding 2 per year. These are great events!

The New Zealand Lightsaber Guild is limited to NZ residents to ensure focus on our main goal; growing the kiwi scene to benefit kiwis who love their NZ lightsabers.

Find a Local Saber Group

NZGL volunteers run lightsaber meets all over the country. You can expect a warm welcome with everything from choreography, competitive dueling and of course, a lot of SW and saber chit-chat.

The more experienced amongst us act as volunteer instructors to help new members explore lightsaber forms of lore in a fun and friendly environment.

For those who wish to compete competitively, the NZLG have molded these forms and adapted them for practical competitive play
